If you are a fan of Gerald Durrell’s book “My family and other animals” come and experience our private tour “The Durrells’ Pathway”, accompanied by Michael, Spiros Amerikanos’ great grandson. We start by exploring the north east side of Corfu and throughout the tour we visit all the fascinating places that attracted the family’s attention.
Our first stop is the White House, the house where the famous writer Lawrence Durrell lived for three years, together with his wife Nancy.
Then, we head towards Corfu town in order to visit the Durrells’ memorial in Boschetto, where we can admire the sculptures of the two brothers, Lawrence and Gerald, along with beautiful views of the Old Fortress and the Ionian Sea.
Next stop – Vlacherena and the Mouse Island, located in Kanoni area, next to lake of the Chalikiopoulos family.
Situated also in the area of Kanoni, our next stop is the house where Spiros Amerikanos lived, a house which today houses our family’s travel agency. Here, we spend a few minutes in order to have a look at some original photos from the 1930s when the Durrell family lived in Corfu.
There is no other way to conclude our tour than by visiting and experiencing the Greek Night at the iconic, traditional taverna “Tripa” where Gerald Durrell together with our grandfather, Michael Chalikiopoulos, spent their nights during the 1960s.
The tour’s duration is 6 hours, starts at approximately 17:00 and finishes by 23:00. It includes the hotel’s pickup and drop off, coffee break and full lunch at Taverna Tripa.
